Retired Chapters

These are chapters that were once approved but that have since been retired for a variety of reasons. If you would like to adopt a retired chapter, it needs to be moved to a region not already covered by another QO chapter and/or have the reasons for its retirement addresses. Contact Danya at Legend@malcor.com if you would like additional information about any of these chapters.

Chronicles of Valdemar

This RPG chapter has been retired because of the regulations governing RPGs.

Companion's Choice

Published the zine Companion's Choice. Former editor was Emily Watts (Shanara Ravensong). Retired because it covered a region that is also covered by several other chapters.

For Whom the Bell Tolls

This was an RPG/writers' chapter aimed at the younger members of QO. It has been retired (along with its newsletter The Haven Herald) because of the regulations governing RPGs.

Haven Sent

Run by Dan and Julie Bowen, this chapter has been retired because it covered a region that is also covered by several other chapters.

Herald's Revel

This Canadian chapter was retired because it covered a region that is also covered by several other chapters.

Illinois Arrow

One of the oldest QO chapters, Illinois Arrow was retired because it covered a region that is also covered by several other chapters.

Southern Hall of Heralds

This chapter concentrated on the Southeastern area of the US. It has been retired (along with its newsletter, The Southern Arrow or Southern Arrows--depending on which QO newsletter you consult, because it covered a region that is also covered by several other chapters.

The Messenger

This 1998 chapter was retired because it did not have a specified region.

Under Kal'enel's Care

This was the Shin'a'in chapter of QO, but there were not enough members with Shin'a'in personae to maintain it.

Winds of Velgarth

This RPG chapter was retired because of the regulations governing RPGs.

As you can see, there's a little bit of overlap in some of the territories. If you can't find a chapter in your region, contact the chapter of your choice anyway. Most chapters accept members outside their area.

How to Start a Chapter

The easiest way to start a chapter is to adopt one that already exists but that no one is currently running. Herald-Mage Danya Winterborn has the information you need to adopt one of these chapters. Chapters that are currently up for adoption are marked on the lists above.

If you would rather start a chapter from scratch, contact Herald-Mage Danya Winterborn and tell her your idea for the region where you would like to start the chapter. She will put you in touch with people from that area who have expressed an interest in a chapter. Decide what you want to do. Chapters may:

A chapter may advertise for members in the QO newsletter, and solicit members on the QO chatlist or in the QO Delphi Forum. A chapter can also run an ad about the newsletter or fanzine (if any) that the group publishes. Contact Herald-Mage Danya Winterborn to place ads or if you would like me to interview you about your organization for the QO newsletter.
