Larry Dixon provided a few paragraphs for the Queen's Own Collegia program book at Dragon*Con that I'd like to share with you. Here's what Larry had to say:

" . . . What can I say? I have an excellent wife; a lady of class and dignity, understood by few, most often seen by others in terms of her work, rather than her exceptional qualities of character.

"Who am I?

"Of myself, I can only say that I have had a full, adventurous, unlikely, rich, remarkable life, the details of which will likely never be even partially revealed. This is fine, really; there's more to a man that what's ever said or seen. I am the son of a great warrior, who is the son of a pilot/inventor and of a Lady, and my mother is an Oklahoma farm-girl who made good and travelled the world. I travelled Europe as a child with my folks, and had their support, as well as the faith and help of teachers and friends, in pursuing art, writing, and insight.

"I am a raptor rehabber, a volunteer firefighter, a sports car racer, an honored artisan, a respected sub-chief of my tribal band; I am a style maven, an architecture buff, a shopper, a music lover, an inventor, a behind-the-scenes influence; I am an advisor, an aviculturist, a stormspotter, a toy and automobile collector, a digital artist, a writer, a sharpshooter, a traveller, a skeptic.

"In aspect: a hawk, a gryphon, a fox, a bear, a dragon: I am imperfect but trying; flawed but repentant; most of a11---a human, nothing less.

"To all of you who I have been fortunate enough to meet and know, I thank you for influencing my growth and increasing my joy. "--Larry Dixon

COLLEGIUM NEWS:

Queen's Own has been welcoming Herald personas since February, 1990. Congratulations, Vicki McElfresh aka Herald Cara. You were a member of our first "class," and are the only one who is still active in QO.

Our first Shin'a'in scout, created by Stephanie Anderson aka Stephania shena Pretera'sedrin, appeared in September, 1990 as did our first Bard. The first White Winds Sorceress appeared a month later, and the first Healer entered the Collegium in March 1991. Early personas were based on the three Arrows books and the Vows and Honor series. Tayledras personas were accepted later as Misty added to our knowledge of Velgarth.

Send a SASE to the QO address if you would like a handout explaining how you can be recognized as Bard, Healer, Herald, Mercenary, Shin'a'in, Tayledras, or White Winds Sorceress.

Hello from Herald Housemother:

Welcome to all new members, and a warm thank you to all who have renewed.

Like you, I'm eagerly awaiting Owlflight. For anyone who reads SF as well as Fantasy I recommend Holly Lisle's Hunting the Corrigan's Blood (paperback--$5.99) and David Weber's latest Honor Harrington adventure, In Enemy Hands (hardcover--$22).
