Publication News: Exile's Valor, the sequel to Exile’s Honor, is scheduled for release this month. This is your reminder that this will be the last major Valdemar book for several years as the series is going on hiatus while Misty concentrates on her other projects. Brain Ships, with Anne McCaffrey and Margaret Ball, is now available, as is Charmed Destinies, which contains three novellas by Misty, Rachel Lee and Catherine Asaro.
Sun In Glory (A Valdemar Anthology) is still scheduled for release in early December; this collection will contain the story of how Talia became a Sun Priest. If the anthology does well, there are hopes that several more such anthologies will be published while we are waiting for the next Valdemar novel. So definitely consider this book for a holiday purchase! This Rough Magic, with Eric Flint and David Freer, remains scheduled for release December 1, 2003. (The Shadow of the Lion, the first book in the series, came out in paperback last month.)
Remember to look for The Fairy Godmother in January 2004. This is Misty’s new offering from Harlequin. (Yes, it’s an adult romance novel, not fantasy fiction.)
In February 2004, This Scepter’d Isle, with Roberts Gellis, is scheduled to be released in hardcover. A Circus Of Witches, Queen of Air and Darkness, Phoenyx And Ashes and Altan, Book Two in the same series with Joust, are also pending publication. Joust should be out in paperback in March 2004. Stoned Souls, with Josepha Sherman, has had its release date pushed back to January 2005.
You can find these and other titles through the Mercedes Lackey section of the Dragonlords’ Bookstore http://Firebirdarts.com, copies of Charmed Destinies and Outstretched Shadow (Well, one copy of that.) and a few other snippets. We're supposed to have some of the Velgarth maps around, but I'm not promising those until I've seen them. Before it ships everything will be signed by at least one of the respective creators. I will get Outstretched Shadow signed by both! That's definitely in the pot.
"Mr. Mallory doesn't come out of his shell much (he and I have that in common perhaps); anyway, I made him grudgingly promise to sign a copy of Shadow. At the time he said that he had only signed one of them to date, so this will be the second copy signed by Mr. M. Perhaps I caught him at a bad time--when he comes out to visit he does miss his dogs ;)

"Send me a picture relevant to Misty and/or Larry. [Ed. note: Paul clarified in a later post that he means ‘picture’ as in ‘photo.’] For example, you skydiving while reading Winds of Change, a copy of Brightly Burning used as a campfire (You think we'd be upset? Heck no. We would hope you'd buy another copy!), or any other clever idea you come up with. Just a fanpic holding the book will count--but I'm betting the winner will be far more imaginative. I can't wait to see the results.

Halloween promises to be fun as I will be celebrating with Danya and watching the children playing in colorful costumes. My son is to be a blue dragon (shush, it’s a secret, and he doesn’t know yet). I have been looking forward to this for months.
It seems we are rushing headlong into the holidays, and I barely notice as the months pass us by. I am struggling through Windows 2000 at school as it is mostly a networking class, which specializes in Windows 2000, and is much more difficult than I anticipated.
My vacation last month was fun. Erik and I took a weekend up to Six Flags-Magic Mountain. We didn’t get to ride as many rides as we wanted due to long lines, but let me say, "WOW, X is intense!" We are planning another trip for November 9th just for the day.
I am still busy at work, teaching about 14-18 classes a week, and am working on an extra project. I am working on an extra long e-mail about what I would do if I were to change the lesson plans; that is taking up most of my time at work right now.
Additionally, if you all could send me a few positive hopes and thoughts I would appreciate it. They are going to inject my right shoulder with iodine dye and then going to do an MRI on the 10th of November. They think I have torn it up again, less than six months from the last surgery. I am hoping it is just inflamed and sore; let’s hope for that.
I love reading all the new submissions coming in, and I wish to hear more about our member personas! I know all of you have ideas about what your persona is doing now: are they on Circuit? Are they running as messengers? Are they still struggling through their lessons? Are they on vacation visiting their family? Have any of the other Tayledras found any additional Pelagirs creatures that haven’t yet been named or observed? Is there any more change circles that your personas have helped with? Write it all down and send it to our various newsletters and fanzines. They are all dying for material, and some are dying out for lack of material. I know we are desperately looking for art for the online version of our newsletters. For those of you who immediately think "I can’t draw," you have seen the art on the site. We are not looking for the next great artist talent. The only thing we ask is that it comes from your heart; everything that does is great to us.
Okay, so I am stepping down off my box now and wishing all of you a happy and safe Thanksgiving!
