A comment from a chapter president: " Motivating people to do something, to write or draw isn't so easy." SUPPORT OUR ZINES!! SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL CHAPTER!!! All the zines and chapters listed in Member News need contributors and subscribers. Artists, Poets, Writers--please share your talent and enthusiasm. No members, no local chapters; no contributors, no newsleters or zines.
[Ed. Note 2002: We decided not to include the lis of zines in the online version because most of the information is out of date.]
We have individual hanout sheets for aspiring Herald, Bard, Healer, Tayledras, Shin'a'in, White Winds Sorcerer/ess and Mercenary, and instructions on how to work for Herald-Mage status if you are already a Herald. Send a SASE to teh QO address and specify which handout you are requesting. Please, one to a customer. Club dues pay for paper and photocopying.
To all who have been away at school or are going away fo rhte summer, remmeber to send me your address change. Some colleges reurn mail rather than forwarding it.
I really appreciate typed addresses, especially e-mail addresses. You know you live at 22S rather than 225, but I have to guess. And e-mail? I print 'em the way I see 'em, sometimes with disastrous results.
It seemed so simple, my plan to keep track of your subscritpion, but that was when the newsletter went out the second Saturday of the month, with no newsletter in April, August, or December. Now I've decided to space the newsletters five or six weeks apart, and I've completley confused myself about when subscriptions end. Projected mailing dates for the rest of '96 are 7/20. 8/24. 9/28, 11/2 and 12/7. Prpposed dates for 1997 are 1/11, 2/22, 4/5, 5/17, 6/28, 8/2, 9/13, 10/25, and 12/6. If the date on your mailing label doesn't seem right, check with me. As I said, I'm confused; why shouldn't you be?
Thanks to all who sent me birthday greetings. I'm feeling younger this year than last, probably because of an improvement in my health. Life is good here in New Jersey.
The Silver Gryphon is available from the Science Fiction Book Club for just $8.98) plus shipping and handlings--at least $3 more). If you would like membership information (6 free books, must buy 4 more within two years), send me a SASE. IF you sent me a SASE in the past, heard nothing from me, and are still interested, just write and tell me. SFBC and I had problems when I notified them of an address change, and they assured me my street didn't exist. They have finally accepted my current address, so I am feeling kinder toward them.
[Ed. Note 2002: Fan Messages are not being posted online because of the personal information they contained.]
There are a few Personals that are addressed to folks who are no longer on the QO mailing list, in the hopes that one of you might know their whereabouts and pass the message along.
