Heyla, Misty fans!
It doesn’t seem possible that another year has come and gone! We are really thrilled with the way QO continues to grow. It’s very exciting to see old members returning as well as new folks finding us for the first time.
By way of book news, Misty has put the Collegium Chronicles project on hold for a year so she can write a second book about Alberich. This one will cover the portion of the timeline from Exile’s Honor to Take a Thief. The title will be Exile's Valor.
The winner of the QO art- and story-publishing contest is Herald Alora (We counted 12 credited pieces of art, and we suspect that some of the uncredited art belonged to her as well.). She will receive a 3-in-1 GuildAmerica Books hardcover copy of the Arrows trilogy, entitled Queen’s Own. The winner of the Vanyel Fan Club art- and story-publishing contest was L.A. Malcor (Danya). Since she can’t win, she is sending the 3-in-1 GuildAmerica Books hardcover copy of The Last Herald Mage trilogy to the runner up in the Queen’s Own contest, Laura Felton. Congratulations to you both!
Fanmail: The QO PO Box is seeing a lot of personal fanmail for Mercedes Lackey lately. Misty does not receive mail at the Queen's Own address, and it costs us money in postage stamps and envelopes to forward such letters to her. (Plus, we don't like opening up something addressed to us only to find out that it is personal mail intended for Misty.) Fanmail to Mercedes Lackey and releases for fan fiction should be sent to:

Reminder: Please keep your e-mail addresses up-to-date with us. We can’t reach you if we don’t have a current address. You may have noticed that we have established a "Lost" column in the Collegium News section of the newsletter. These are the members for whom we no longer have a working address. If you are in touch with any of these people, please let them know that we no longer have a way to reach them. When requesting a change, please provide both your old address and your new address (It’s easier to search and replace the information that way.) Also, if you haven’t been receiving the QO newsletter, contact us. We get many bounces each month from accounts that are over their quota. We can’t deliver your newsletter if your mailbox is full <g>.
In lieu of an interview this month, we have a special message from Misty to her fans in QO. Enjoy!

Herald-Mage Adept Danya Winterborn and Healer Adept Moonstar
From Misty:
Well, 'tis the season, and I've been working my patootie off to see that everyone gets a high quota of Misty prose for the coming year. Finally, after far too long following the disastrous fire in Larry's studio, the lawsuit with our insurance company, and oh, yes, the nutcase who thought Guardians were real, I feel like I'm back on my form, and so does Larry. I hope this is showing in what we're doing.
By the end of the year, I expect to have two more collaborations out the door, MAD MAUDLIN in the Bedlam Bards series with Rosemary Edgehill, and the first book of an entirely new series, a prequel to SERRAted Edge, that we're calling Doubled Edge, with famed romance writer Roberta Gellis. This book is called THIS SCEPTER'D ISLE and is about Keighvin Silverhair's cousins and Henry Fitzroy, Henry VIII's illegitimate son. On the boards for publication in April is the start of a new series, JOUST, the first chapter of which should be on the Mercedes Lackey site. I'm also collaborating on another new high fantasy trilogy with James Mallory, the author of the "Merlin" books based on the TV series---the first of which, THE MOUNTAIN'S SHADOW, is a whopper, coming in at well over 250,000 words. Whew! The book has been turned in to TOR, so stay in touch to see when the publication date is. And of course, you'll be getting your second half of Alberich's story, EXILE'S VALOR, and the second Lackey/Flint/Freer, THIS ROUGH MAGIC.
Things are very exciting for Larry, too; he has been chosen as the artist to design and illustrate the GURPS roleplaying handbook for Lois Bujold's Vorkosiverse, giving a coherent vision to the entire project. He'll be doing more covers for Baen books, including a new cover for YOUNG MILES, and several covers and interiors for various roleplaying magazines. He's also coming in on the SERRAted Edge book, STONED SOULS.
Altogether a lot of exciting and energizing projects coming up for both of us individually and together.
I hope that the coming year brings good things for all of us. Happy Holidays to you all.

We have individual handouts for aspiring Heralds, Healers, Bards, Blues, Mercenaries, Tayledras, Shin'a'in, and White Winds Sorcerers/Sorceresses and instructions on how to work for Herald-Mage status if you are already a Herald or for a Kal'enedral if you are already a Shin'a'in. You can find these handouts online at http://www.dragonlordsnet.com/qohandouts.htm.
You need a release form (online at http://www.dragonlordsnet.com/qomlrel2.htm) if you write a story set in Misty's worlds or using any of her characters. You do not need a release for a character sketch, poem or filk. All Misty wants to do is protect her characters and her worlds. Send the release form (you do NOT need to include the story) to Misty c/o High Flight Arts and Letters, P.O. Box 2970, Claremore, OK 74017. Do NOT include the original of the release form with your persona material; send it to Misty. Send a copy to us.
All personae materials should be sent to the QO address or submitted by e-mail to Legend@malcor.com and healermoon@gmail.com.

Heyla, Misty fans!
I hope this newsletter finds you all well. I’ve been swallowed by the holiday madness, which has been made very awkward this year by my cousin’s death. Still, it’s hard to stay depressed for very long when you have a six-year-old, two-year-old and one-year-old tearing around the house, all competing to see who is the most excited about Santa’s pending visit. I’m up to my elbows in gift-wrap, decorations and cookie ingredients, and I’m trying to decide whether or not I’ll be able to find the time to make a gingerbread house this year.
My family attended a 40th anniversary program at my church, where Hunter and Stan Freberg entertained us. Some of you may know him as the voice of Cecil the Sea Serpent and Dishonest John from the Beanie Boy TV series. He also provided the voice of Pete Puma in the Bugs Bunny cartoons and has a list of numerous other credits, including the beaver in Lady and the Tramp. Dr. Demento fans may know him best from his hit song "Green Christmas." Anyway, it was a fun evening, and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting someone who created so many characters I loved when I was growing up.
My co-author, C. Scott Littleton, had his first novel, Phase Two, published. You can find the link with info about it at
http://www.dragonlordsnet.com/bkscifi.htm
He’s now bugging me to get my own growing stack of novels published. I did notice, though, that he waited until he retired to start putting out fiction rather than attempting to write novels while raising his kids. ::chuckle:: I hope it’s not going to take me that long to get back to writing seriously, but things are simply a bit hectic around her right now with my rambunctious offspring pinging off the walls. Time does seem to get away from me before I notice it’s gone
My best to all of you and yours in the coming Year! Happy Hanukkah, Blessed Yule, Merry Christmas, Blessed Ramadan, Happy Kwanzaa, and the fabulous holiday of your choice to all of you!
Zhai’helleva,
Danya
