Dear Misty Fans,

Coming from BAEN in April is Fiddler Fair, advertised as "a command performance by Fantasy's grand diva". This paperback is $5.99.

"Mercedes Lackey has, in a few short years, soared to the peak of the fantasy field, and her thousands of enthusiastic readers clamor for more and more. Now comes a volume demonstrating the wide range of her talent, running the gamut from her beloved Bardic fantasies to urban fantasy set in the modern world; from science fiction adventure to chilling horror. And throughout Fiddler Fair, Lackey's sheer storytelling skill will hold the reader spellbound. Learn what happens when animal rights fanatics try to 'liberate' genetically reconstructed dinosaurs. Follow Lawrence of Arabia into the desert to meet a power beyond human comprehension; and be with King Arthur, reborn into the present day, when he again gains possession of the enchanted sword Excalibur. And, in a very weird encounter of the most bizarre kind, learn why an alien from an UFO took an unusual interest in a battered Chevy pickup truck.

"Fiddler Fair is a feast for the multitudes of Lackey fans everywhere and for new readers, a powerful introduction to the most significant new fantasy writer of the decade."

Fiddler Fair, Oathblood, and the rest of Misty's books can be ordered from Firebird Arts & Music, as can Misty related T-shirts, jewelry, CD's and cassettes, stationery, and doll size costume patterns. Spring is a season that lifts the spirit. The days are longer, birds are singing, flowers and shrubs are in bloom . . . .But for all too many of us, there is no feeling of joy. Here is an important message from Herals Alora:

"Depression is an illnes that is misunderstood, minimized, silenced, and generally overlooked. Major depressive disorder affects 1 in 20 Americans, twice as many women as men, and day after day it affects one's thoughts, feelings, physical health and ehavior. Family history/genetics, medical illnesses, substance abuse, life conditions, and other psychiatric conditions are causes of depression. Some recurring symptoms are loss of interest or energy, feeling sad and worthless and isolated, anxiety, feeling guilty or hopeless, changes in appetite, problems thinking clearly or remembering, indecisiveness, insomnia, inflicting injuries to oneself, and becoming obsessed with thoughts of suicide. Physical and psychological symptoms occur: headache, pain, digestive problems, panic attacks. If you feel you are depressed, seek help immediately. It's easy to become emotionally overwhelmed and to shut yourself away from all others, but this is when you need to talk about how you feel with family and friends. You can NOT heal yourself. Go to your doctor and explore the cause(s) of your depression and how best to treat it. Therapy and medication are available. Remember, depression is NOT a weakness or something to be ashamed about. It is a medical illness and it is treatable. For additional information, brochures, support services and procrams, contact Depression Awareness Recognition Treatment (D/ART) [Ed. "If you'd like the addresses in addition to the phone numbers, I can provide you with them [Ed. Note 2002: See the links above.], or if you'd like any further information on depression, or have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Due to my own personal battle with depression I will do my best to help in any way I can. Sometimes it's easier to talk to someone's who's been there too."
