FROM THE EXERCISE MASTER:

Greetings! Since there have been a bunch of changes to the main web site in the past few months, I've decided to devote this newsletter to taking you on a little tour of the resources that are available to you.

The URL for the main site is, http://www.dragonlordsnet.com/ (just in case you've lost it or forgotten to bookmark it). The main page contains links to lower levels of the site, legal disclaimers, links to other web site, advertisements (to help promote the club) and the web ring codes for Dragonlords. When you visit the main page, please take the time to click on things like the Vote link to Starting Point. We rely on traffic through these links for our free advertising. The webrings are a great feature that I hope you are all using. They link Dragonlords to other sites with similar interests. The rings have thematic organizations, such as dragons, fantasy, and RPGs. Use them to surf to other realms( And while you're at those other sites, if you sign guest books and mention Dragonlords, along with the URL, that's another form of free advertising for us.) Some of the webrings keep track of traffic, and this increases our exposure. For instance, Dragonlords has been Number One on the Friends of the Dragon Webring for the better part of a week! Help us keep the word spreading about our club.

Since you are all members, you've apparently found the link to the "Guide" at the top of the main page. Basic character requirements, BOD members, and other useful information are found in this section.

The "Fanzines" section lists the submission requirements for the Dragonlords fanzines. Deadlines come up roughly every three months. Instructions on how to submit release forms to me are found in this section as well. There's also a spelling list and other goodies.

The "Fun Stuff" page links you to the heart of the Dragonlords site. In addition to character creation materials, the Gazetteers (where you'll find rosters, location descriptions, maps and all sorts of neat things), and pages dedicated to different aspects of life on Centuria, this section features links to other web sites that members may find of interest. If you have any suggestions for links to add to this page, message me at Legend@malcor.com.

The "Message/Guestbook" area is the portion of the web site that enables us to cut down on the e-mail in your boxes. Members should try to visit this portion at least once a week (BOD members should visit daily). The important announcements are posted here. (I do a great deal of talking to myself on the board and would appreciate some company >g<.)

Scanning down the main page, past the legal stuff, you'll find another set of links. The "About the Author" section tells you about me and about sites that mention me and also my work on the Net. (If you find any links I've missed, please let me know at Legend@malcor.com.) Valdemar fans, be sure to click on the "Danya Winterborn" link to get to the Mercedes Lackey section that's just been added to the site.

The "Awards Received" section displays the honors that Dragonlords has earned. We have quite a few! The images are beautiful, and each image links to the site that granted Dragonlords the honor. Not all of the sites have to do with Dragons or web design, but all of them are fascinating. This is a great section to surf from, if you have the time.

The "Approved Clubs" area is where the authorized Dragonlords clubs are listed. Currently, the only chartered club is Ryanon's Base Camp with its adjunct clubs, Darrell's Base Camp and Gavain's Base Camp.

The "Bookstore" is a new feature that I hope you all use frequently. In conjunction with Amazon, Dragonlords is offering titles for sale. If you purchase any books from Amazon by using these links supplied by Dragonlords, we get a percentage of the sale. That money goes to defray the cost of maintaining the Dragonlords web site. We have to pay for bandwidth, the P.O. box, and some of the software used to maintain the site. Currently, all of those costs are coming out of my pocket, and they add up. So if you plan to buy a book from Amazon anyway, let me know at Legend@malcor.com. I'll add the title to our bookstore so you can order through a Dragonlords link and we can get credit. Every little bit helps!

The "Awards Given" section displays the awards that Dragonlords grants to other sites. Very few of these have actually been given out. Do take the time to stop by and visit the winning URLs. They are truly special. When life calms down a bit, I'll be adding an award that people can apply for, but that's a bit down the road.

"Scriptorium" is online writers' group that functions in association with Dragonlords. At this time membership in the group is only open to members of Dragonlords and the group is only working on stories for the Dragonlords fanzine. Eventually members will be able to work on non-Dragonlords material and, if life decides to cooperate, we'll be able to welcome non-Dragonlords members into the group. There are sections on spelling, grammar, writing tips and other aids available for you to browse.

In the links below this portion of the main page is a button that will take you to Dragonlords' Domestic Violence page. This is a public service offered by Dragonlords. Although the page specializes in dealing with domestic violence in same-sex relationships, the information is applicable to all types of abusive situations.

We've had over 1800 visitors to the main page since Dragonlords opened in late November of last year. We average 525 hits per day to the lower levels of the site. This site is a wonderful tool that is provided for your enjoyment. Make use of it!

Eternal Death to the Dark One!

Positions Vacant

These positions need to be filled as soon as possible:

  1. BOD Member:
  2. Banker

The Banker Manual is available online at the main website. Essentially, we are looking for someone who can use Excel (Or if you have a better idea about how to keep track of how much wealth each character has accumulated, please let us know!). Contact Exercise Master Krin at Legend@malcor.com for more details.

We need to fill these posts as soon as possible. Neither position is horribly time-consuming after the initial set up. Please, helps us out!

Anyone who is currently reading the Centuria novels, please keep notes on the different times that things happen. Such as "Shashtah lose his kingship and so many days later he turns up at Karaif's." We're trying to straighten out the timeline for the club, and we need to get the timeline for the novels straightened out first. Send all notes to Dragonrider Ryanon (dragonfodder@gmail.com), who is in charge of the project.

There will be Camel and Horse races at the April event. Owners need to submit entries via the form on the Members Only site. Anyone who wants to acquire a string in time to participate should contact Exercise Master Krin at Legend@malcor.com.

You have completed your assignment thus far;
continue to strive onwards.

Until next forum,
keep safe!
