Excerpt from

Patrek's Lament

by

Valron Silvertongue

(Revised 11/14/97)

"Your actions have brought this upon you. This is your sentence, and it is bitter; it has reached your very heart. You shall suffer anguish. You shall writhe in pain. The walls of your heart shall be breached, and you will not be able to keep silent."

"How long, Lord of Light? Wilt thou shun me forever? How long must I bear pain in my soul? Will I have sorrow in my heart all my days?"

You have disciplined me; I accepted the discipline like a young UnTrained Dragon. Now, bring me home, let me return, for you are my Father, my king! I am deeply ashamed, and I will always bear the disgrace of my youth.

Turn not thy servant away in anger, thou who hast been my strength and my support.
Cast me not off, forsake me not, O Lord of Light, my hope, my salvation!
Though my father and my mother have forsaken me, may you, my Lord, take me up!
