Dragonsdawn- How everyone came to Pern in the first place. The science is a bit weak, but the book is a fun read if
you are already a fan of the Pern series and know where all these names wind up in the later
books.

Chronicles of Pern: First Fall- How the dragonriders fight the first Threadfall after humans land on Pern. Still heavy on the science
fiction, which is not Anne McCaffrey's strong suit. But this is the chance for readers to meet
some famous characters who are repeatedly mentioned in the later books.
Dragonseye- The Pernese face Thread for the second time in their history as their technology begins to vanish.

Moreta: Dragonlady of Pern- Yes, this is the character from the ballad in the later books; no, the details of the plot don't match the ballad. But still a
good read if you enjoy spending time on Pern.

- Nerilka's Story
- Not one of the best in the Pern series, but entertaining.
Masterharper of Pern (Hardcover)- Robinton's childhood and the events that led to him becoming the Masterharper of Pern. Details don't always match
what Anne McCaffrey had established in the other Pern books, but this offering still contains passages that are
absolutely riveting.

Dragonflight- The book that started it all, and one of the absolute best in the series. If you've never read Pern before, you
should probably start here.

Dragonsong- The Harper Hall trilogy takes place simultaneously with the Dragonrider trilogy but is aimed at

- Set in the time of F'lar and Lessa, this story follows the adventures of Jayge and the woman he loves, Aramina (who is from "The Girl Who Heard Dragons").

- An uneven book, alternating between rather dry, questionable science fiction passages and
some of the most heartbreakingly beautiful prose Anne McCaffrey has ever written.
