King Arthur

The Vulgate and Post-Vulgate Cycles

The Vulgate Cycle is the major corpus of medieval Arthurian material from the Continent. It covers the legends of how Joseph of Arimathea brought the Grail to Europe, of Merlin, of Lancelot, of the Quest for the Holy Grail and of Arthur's Death.

The Post-Vulgate Cycle covers essentially the same stories, but the MSS date to a later period and sometimes differ from the versions of the stories contained in the Vulgate.
